Green Home Trends

Green is in and real estate investors are jumping on the bandwagon. Instead of buying houses at a discount to turn around for resell or rent after a few repairs and house cosmetics, the growing trend for investors is transforming their purchases into green eco-friendly investments by installing energy efficient appliances, lighting, as well as heavy duty insulation.

In today's struggling economy, a house that consumes less energy and has less outgassing - a major concern to the green building community - is most likely to have a competitive edge in the real estate market. Whether you’re a seller or buyer concerned with keeping your home value up, consider these three benefits to going green.

Value

As energy prices continue to soar along with growing concerns about energy supplies and usage, a well constructed green home, over time, is more likely to increase in value.

Comfort

A heavily insulated home is a great buffer from those severe external temperatures. It also helps reduce those extreme internal temperature swings associated with summer’s heat and winter’s cold. This in turn will help reduce wear and tear on your thermostat.

Health

When you think green, think green building materials and furnishings. With proper ventilation, provided by nature or mechanical means, your home’s air will be fresher and less toxic, creating a healthier environment.

A lot of homes today are focused on "green living". This is good news and I must agree with your that green design is not becoming a trend in home living.
